The Charleston Importing and Exporting Company was one of the more successful blockade running companies. It owned the Syren which made 33 successful blockade runs. It was so successful that the company had no use for any other ships. By late 1864 the companies stock sold for $3,000 per share. The company had returned 100% of its profits to investors by the wars end. The Syren was captured on February 18, 1865 in Charleston after the city was evacuated. A well presented piece displaying just light folds and some minor foxing along the bottom edge. R-5, with about 15 known examples.
