1788 New Jersey Copper. Maris 67-v, W-5510. Rarity-1. Horses Head Right. VF-35 (PCGS).;138.6 grains. Glossy, dark brown surfaces are a rather attractive tone, and wear is generally even and trouble-free, with no individual stray marks worthy of note. The reverse is quite textured, as inherent to the planchet, a not unusual circumstance on examples of Maris 67-v, though the obverse has a much smoother planchet texture by comparison. Here is a sharply detailed specimen that would make a fine representative example in Colonial type collection.;From the Dr. Gordon Shaw Collection. Earlier ex the 1983 A.N.A. Mid Winter Auction, Steve Ivy Numismatic Auctions, lot 31.
