1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition Award Medal. Silver. 38 mm. Extremely Fine.；<strong>Obv:</strong> High-relief eagle superimposed on a Federal shield, legends PANAMA-PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION above and 1915 / SAN FRANCISCO below. <strong>Rev:</strong> Above a small representation of the seal of the Exposition the legends COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL / AWARDED / BY THE / PANAMA-PACIFIC / INTERNATIONAL / EXPOSITION. Below this, on a cartouche, is engraved HIS EXCELLENCY / WANG CHIH CHANG. The medal is housed in its original hinged leather, silk and plush presentation case, gold-stamped on the bottom SHREVE & CO. This type of award medal appears infrequently in bronze, but silver examples are even rarer. This specimen, issued to a representative of the Chinese Government, is especially desirable. We have been unable to find much information about Mr Chih-Chang and his connection with this Exposition, but we learned that he was born in 1877 at Tientsin, Chihli, where he also studied law at Peiyang University. A photograph of him at about age 40 was located showing him in Western dress, with four large Orders on his jacket, indicating he was a man of considerable renown. Further research will no doubt reward the future owner of this medal.；
