1898-1903 United States Navy Campaign Medal Set. Extremely Fine.；A rare grouping that includes a Samson medal, cf. Vernon-293, with a U.S.S. NEWARK ship bar, and a single campaign bar, MANZANILLO. This medal is inscribed LIEUT. JOHN HENRY GIBBONS, U.S.N. on the edge. Also included on the heavy white metal Spink and Sons display bar are the naval versions of the 1898 West Indies Campaign (335) Vernon-288 , the 1899-1903 Philippine Campaign (90) Vernon 297, and the 1901 China Relief Expedition (100) Vernon-301. The three campaign medals are numbered on the edge, as noted in parentheses. Three ribbon bars are included for this group -- two with white metal pinbacks and one on a lighter metal bar meant to be sewn onto a uniform. Housed in a custom leather, plush and silk case by Spink and Son Ltd. who mounted the group on the bar. This assemblage includes several especially desirable types. (Total: 4 medals)；
