1809/8 Capped Bust Left Half Eagle. BD-1, the only known dies. Rarity-3+. MS-63 (PCGS).;Fully brilliant and lustrous on both sides, with satiny yellow-gold surfaces intermingled with rose highlights. Boldly struck with Libertys curls and the eagles feathers nicely defined. A tiny nick above the 1 and 8 digits of the date serves as a pedigree marker, and otherwise, the surfaces look quite clean. A thin die crack on the obverse joins the tip of the bust and stars 1-7, while another crack joins stars 10-13 to the hair curl. On the reverse light die clashing can be seen. An impressive condition rarity at this grade level, and worthy of a strong bid.
