Undated (post-1862) United States Arsenal, With Sun / Bolen Store Card Muling. Dies by John Adams Bolen. Musante JAB M/E-4. White Metal. MS-63 (NGC).28 mm. Light silver gray with some mild flecked toning but mostly brilliant surfaces. Lustrous with suggestions of reflectivity in the obverse field. Noted by W. Elliot Woodward in 1862 to have a mintage of six in this metal (along with the same number in brass and copper), but this is the only example we have seen in white metal. Beyond this, we have seen two in brass and none in copper. Very rare and as noted above, seemingly under appreciated.From the Claremont Collection. Earlier from our sale of the Ralph A.
