1893 Springfield Masonic Temple Cornerstone Medal. By John Adams Bolen. Musante JAB-41. Copper. MS-66 RB PL (NGC).28.6 mm. Generous faded red is seen on both sides with considerable accents of steely blue. On the reverse, this is more intense and quite pretty. Sharp and prooflike. A couple of small obverse spots are noted but the eye appeal and surface quality otherwise are quite nice. The 1905 Bolen listing gives the mintage in copper as 250 pieces, but they seem scarcer than that mintage might suggest. The original brass piece from the Bolen reference collection was purchased by the ANS in 1948, the copper one was in the Musante Collection in February 2014, and the white metal one was in the E Pluribus Unum Collection.From the Claremont Collection.
