Channeling the cash-style coinage of the copper series, this impressive crown radiates with an abundance of lustrous brilliance across both sides. The dragon is full of flair, with an intense lifelike nature, and with the characters offering great sharpness and crispness. While mostly imbued with a steely gray hue, this example provides subtle burnished amber and cabernet hues, elevating its impressively Choice nature simply that much more. No doubt a tremendous opportunity for a tantalizing representative of the series, and VERY RARE as such.
This Dollar is a representative of the first set of Tai Ching Ti Kuo silver coinage. These issues--struck in limited quantities with a familiar obverse design based upon the imperial copper issues beginning in 1906--were placed into circulation and, in less than a year, were replaced by the 1908 issues.
