Uncannily alluring and enchanting, this pattern issue from Imperial China s final decade presents a very distinct and captivating appearance that is instantly recognizable, from the cash-style dragon and elegant calligraphy, to the thatched border and floral-style rosettes. The surfaces present a tremendous degree of lustrous brilliance, along with a mostly steely gray hue that is without much in the way of any other coloring. Given the IMMENSE RARITY of the type, it is easy to see why this stunning specimen could reach exceptionally lofty and dizzying heights, as opportunities to acquire such an impressive striking do not present themselves often. This Dollar is a representative of the first set of "Tai Ch ing Ti Kuo" silver coinage. These issues--struck in limited quantities with a familiar obverse design based upon the imperial copper issues beginning in 1906--were placed into circulation and, in less than a year, were replaced by the 1908 issues.
