CHINA--FOREIGN BANKS. Deutsch-Asiatische Bank. 10 Dollars, 1.3.1907. P-S263a. S/M#T101-3a. PMG Very Fine 20.Hankow branch. A fully issued example of this rare variety from the Deutsch-Asiatische Bank. This the sole graded example in the PMG population report. Some small rust is seen in the top margin, but it does not touch the actual design, and it has not eaten into the paper. The appearance of this piece is strong and this example is much nicer than the average note of this denomination. By now you have seen us offer a variety of notes from the Al Kugel Collection. While the original source of the collection is not known, we believe the collection was initially put together sometime in the 20th century by a European collector. It is very well possible that the person had a personal relationship with the bank or the sphere of German influence in China. Without a doubt, the collection has proven to be a treasure trove for the dedicated collector of this fascinating and important series. Once again a highly important opportunity and a nice example of this rare denomination and place of issue. PMG Comments "Rust."From the Al Kugel Collection.
