The significance of the black overprint letters has not yet been discovered but perhaps indicate a place of issue. Most examples seen have such an overprint. Like most examples of this institution this 1883 $5 has been perforated cancelled but is otherwise in pleasing circulated condition with good eye-appeal. It is new to the Canadian Note Registry census and is bettered in the PMG population report by just two others. PMG comments "Perforation Cancelled."
