CANADA. Bank of Nova Scotia. 20 Dollars, 1.11.1897. CH #550-26-02S. Specimen. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ. Rare ABNC printed specimen signed by J. Doull for The Bank of Nova Scotia in Halifax, N.S., dated 1.11.1897. The bank put out two different designs of the $20 denomination in 1896 and 1897, both printed by the American Bank Note Company. Both are uncollectible in issued form, as just two of the 1896 issue and a sole example of the 1897 issue are known, all of which are in institutional collections. Specimens such as this are a bit more available but are far from common, and demand is always high. This is one of just two 1897 $20 specimens graded by PMG; we sold the other for $3000+ in the past. From the Great North Collection.
