CANADA. Banque Nationale. 6 Dollars, 28.5.1870. CH# 510-12-07. PMG Very Fine 25. Large tint. The 1870 series of the Banque Nationale of Quebec City features the rarely seen $6 denomination offered here. Most notes of this institution are rare, and the $6 is one of the rarest. The Charlton catalog features a number of different varieties, depending on the size of the underprint and whether or not it has a town overprint. For all varieties there are seventeen notes listed in the 2022 edition of the Canadian Note Registry. Of those, however five are in institutional collections. It is also important to note that this is one of just two notes recorded with the Ol. Robitaille manuscript signature at right. An important opportunity for the Canadian specialist not to be missed, this example has seen the typical cancellation and also has a small tear at upper left, but the old numismatic saying "go find another one" certainly applies here. PMG comments "Perforation Cancelled, Tears."
