MD-43. Maryland. January 1, 1767. $2/3. PCGS Banknote Gem Uncirculated 66 PPQ.No. 11365. Signed by R. Couden and J. Clapham. Printed by Jonas Green, Annapolis, 1767. This note, like its One Third Dollar sheet-mate, is prohibitively rare in Uncirculated condition, with this example and a PCGS 63 PPQ as the only two shown on the T&P Census. Retaining nearly all of the indent at the left margin, and three well-balanced and large margins at the top, right and bottom, it is the acme of perfection for this issue which is typically found in faulty, low-grade condition. We could go on and on about the outstanding print registration, signatures and paper quality but hopefully the photographs provide all you need to know in that regard. Suffice it to say, this is unquestionably the finest example known by a considerable margin, and worthy of a generous bid from the collector seeking the best. Ex. Eric P. Newman Collection.
