1803 Draped Bust Cent. S-250. Rarity-3. Small Date, Small Fraction. AU-53 (PCGS).A well struck example, we note otherwise sharp central definition that wanes appreciably only over the lower right portion of the wreath on the reverse. That side of the coin is fully denticulated, the obverse lacking this feature from 1 to 6 oclock. Warm olive-brown patina dominates the in hand appearance, although there is some lighter autumn-brown color in the protected areas around the devices that represents faded down mint color. Plenty of good gloss, and no marks or otherwise blemishes to smooth-looking surfaces. A very nice representative of this Sheldon number which, surprisingly, has had only three appearances in certified AU grades in our auctions over the last two decades.PCGS# 36365. NGC ID: 224G.
