1798 Draped Bust Cent. S-170. Rarity-3. Style II Hair. AU-58 (PCGS).Really a lovely example, we note dominant patina in autumn-brown to hard, satiny surfaces. Traces of pinkish-gold are evident in the protected areas around the design elements, where original mint color was last to fade. The strike is impressively sharp for the type with only a bit of minor softness toward the upper right reverse border. There are no sizeable or otherwise significant marks and a few light, well scattered carbon spots are minimally distracting in hand. A challenging variety to find this sharp and so well preserved, and an excellent high grade Draped Bust cent for an 18th century type set. Breen Die State IV.PCGS# 1434.
