1787 Massachusetts Half Cent. Ryder 2-A, W-5910. Rarity-4-. EF-45 (PCGS).Satiny deep copper-brown surfaces with a pleasingly smooth appearance in hand. The strike is well centered and otherwise bold, the central high points just a bit softly impressed with some original planchet texture evident near the upper right corner of the shield on the reverse. Border denticulation is present in all areas save for at the upper left obverse, upper reverse. Ryder 2-A is one of the less frequently seen varieties of 1787 Massachusetts half cents. While there are a decent number of Mint State coins known, nonetheless, the die pairing can be challenging to locate above EF.PCGS# 296. NGC ID: 2B22.
