1876 Washington / Centennial Muling. By John W. Kline. Musante JAB K-17, Musante GW-801, Baker-399. White Metal. MS-65 (PCGS).25.1 mm. Somewhat satiny with a curious combination of intense cartwheel luster and prooflike reflectivity. Essentially brilliant and very sharp. A few light handling lines noted in the fields have little bearing on the lovely eye appeal. Per Musantes reference on Bolen tokens, this specimen was the only one observed at the time that book was written. Interestingly, it was not used as the plate piece in Medallic Washington, which was illustrated by a composite photo instead. Clearly extremely rare, if not unique. From the Martin Logies Collection.
