Uncut Pair. Maryland. October 11, 1782. 100 Pounds. About Uncirculated. Nos. 255-256. 100£. Hole cancelled. Act of Nov. 4, 1782. Issued on Oct. 11, 1783 and boldly signed by Thomas Harwood. No imprint. Printed on laid paper. A rare uncut vertical pair which paid interest at 6% per annum. Anderson MD-11. Not found in the Boyd/Ford holdings. High Rarity-7. Small edge tear at left indent. The only other example we have sold was an Extremely Fine pair that realized just under $1,000 in a Coin Galleries sale from a dozen years ago. In today’s sophisticated market for rarities, there should be no qualms about paying that much and then some.
