In two parts, consisting of a circular badge that measures approximately 77 mm across and weighs 102.5 grams, with a golden colored bust of Simon Bolivar surrounded by the words ORDERN DE BOYACA at center inside a blue-enameled Maltese cross. The cross is set atop a jeweled eight-pointed star with rays between.<p>The Grand Cross Star, 57 mm across, is similar to the center of the badge, with the bust of Bolivar inside a blue-enameled Maltese cross with gold borders and is suspended from a dark blue sash with gold, turquoise and red striping at the edges. The back of the Star reads REPUBLICA DE COLUMBIA in the center of the cross.<p>The Order of Boyacá (Spanish: Orden de Boyacá) is the highest peacetime decoration of Colombia. The order is awarded for exceptional service to distinguished Colombian military officers and civilians as well as foreign citizens of friendly nations.<p>The Order of Boyacá traces its origin to a Cruz de Boyacá that was awarded to the generals who led their forces to victory in the Battle of Boyacá in 1819.
