1788 Vermont Copper. RR-18, Bressett 19-X, W-2135. Rarity-4. Bust Right. EF Details--Corrosion Removed (PCGS). 120.2 grains. Always an interesting variety, this piece is struck over an Irish halfpenny as are most known examples. It shows bold traces of the host coins legends above and below the obverse bust and at the date area of the reverse. Porous orangey-brown surfaces with no serious marks or flaws. This piece was little worn and shows considerable definition everywhere except for those areas not fully struck up due to the overstrike or obverse die failure. From the Norman G. Peters Collection.
