Richmond, Virginia. Virginia Treasury Note. 1860s $20. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. (Criswell 3). Hoyer & Ludwig. Richmond, VA. Civil War era dated $20 Treasury Note that is quite common, but not so in this state of preservation. Only the second uncirculated example that we have handled. A type that typically displays tight margins. Such is not the case here with this lovely note being fully framed. Bold signatures and a series of vibrant green inks surround the central Washington portrait. The Newman collection had a mere PCGS EF 40 that came in over the $500 mark. The only CU example that we sold was a PCGS New 62 that we sold for over $750 in our March 2017 Baltimore sale.
