1936 Lynchburg, Virginia Sesquicentennial. Lynchburg. MS-67+ (PCGS). CAC. PCGS has graded almost 4,500 Lynchburg commemorative half dollars, about 3,500 of which fall into the near-Gem to Gem range. The MS-66 population decreases markedly, and Superb Gems are quite scarce. This MS67+ is one of just 22 seen by PCGS, with only 1 MS-68 finer. Splashes of jade-green and deep crimson visit the obverse margin, the remainder of that side is a pretty lime-gold color. The reverse shows mottled lime-gold and deep crimson overall. The underlying, highly lustrous surfaces are virtually mark-free and exhibit well-struck design elements.
