1806/4 Capped Bust Right Quarter Eagle. BD-1. Rarity-4+. Stars 8x5. EF-40 (PCGS). BD-1, High R.4. Bass-Dannreuther Die State a/a, with no clashing, no lapping, no die cracks. The 1806/4 is the more available of two 1806-dated quarter eagle die pairs, each struck from an overdated obverse. The 1806/4 has the obverse stars arranged eight-and-five, while the 1806/5 has a seven-and-six pattern. This EF-40 representative has the eye appeal of a higher grade, with traces of luster shining from honey-gold surfaces. Though the central strike is softly struck (as usual), contact marks are few for the designation. A memorable example of this very scarce issue.
