Foochow The Local Post Office The "PAID" Handstamp 1895 (12 Aug.) envelope registered to Amoy bearing 1c. green tied by Postal Agency Foochow c.d.s., alongside are light strikes of the framed "PAID" handstamp and the boxed Registered handstamp, both struck in mauve, with "<I>453" registration number in red ink, the letter was redirected to Hankow on arrival but there are no further postal markings, other than the postmans pencil delivery characters on the reverse. The cover has been reduced at left when opened. An unusual and highly desirable cover. The 1c. pays the postage and the Paid handstamp pays the 5c. for registration; believed to be the latest example of the Paid handstamp. Photo
