1894年9月5日福州美国领事馆寄英国Swansea 封并带原信函, 贴日本小判五钱, 封被私人带往日本并销9月27日横滨日戳, 封背有11月5日Swansea 到达戳. 封曾遭 "拒绝" 而发回给发件人, 信封面有另一11月6日Swansea 日戳, R.L.B.日戳, 圆圈型横滨税印记, "5d" 印记及手写 "25 ctm", 而于封背有11月8日伦敦转回日戳, 及蓝色3月24日上海书信馆日戳. 所附原信函述及提供首版发行的福州邮票. 中日战争期间写的一封有趣信函; 由于战时中日之间没有直接的联繫, 以致这封邮件需要私下运送到日本.Foochow The Shanghai Agency Through Foreign Post OfficeJapan 1894 (5 Sept.) envelope from the United States Consulate in Foochow to Swansea, carried privately to Japan where Koban 5s. has been cancelled by Yokohama c.d.s. (27.9) and with Swansea arrival (5.11) on the reverse. The letter was "<I>Refused" and returned to sender, the address side with Further Swansea c.d.s. (6.11), R.L.B. c.d.s. handstruck "5<H>d ", circular Yokohama tax handstamp and manuscript "<I>25 ctm" , and on the reverse, London Returned Letter Branch c.d.s. (8.11) and Shanghai Local Post (24.3) c.d.s. in blue. With the original letter offering to sell the first issue of Foochow stamps.An interesting letter sent during the Sino-Japanese War; there was no direct link between China and Japan and this mail needed to be carried privately to Japan.
