ITALY. Silver 5 Lire Prova (Pattern), 1903. Milan Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-63 Gold Shield.KM-Pn4; Pagani Prova-215. A spectacular Prova issue, with argent centers deepening into a gunmetal hue along the peripheries. Some mild handling defines the grade, but distracts little from the phenomenal details present. The reverse, in particular, hearkens back to the Milanese issues of the late Middle Ages and Renaissance, proudly proclaiming the source of this issue and connecting modern, unified Italy to its city-state roots.
