T-40. Confederate Currency. 1862-63 $100. PMG About Uncirculated 53 EPQ.No. 35142, Plate Af. This lightly circulated $100 Train note was issued January 9, 1863 by Tho.(mas) Lanigan, Major & C.S. (Commissary of Subsistence). Lanigan was from Arkansas and appears to have spent the bulk of his time in service reporting to Brigadier General Albert Pike in the Indian Territory. His manuscript endorsement is beautifully penned in bold, fully legible inks. This note is just a few serial numbers removed from the example plated in the latest McNeil reference.
