Northhousen, Wisconsin. Buffalo County Bank. 185x. $10. PCGS Currency Gem New 65 PPQ. Hole Punch Cancelled. Proof.(WI-600 G6a). An amazing Wisconsin proof from the former sheets sold out of the Newman Collection. Like so many of them, this is unique in private hands and unknown issued as the bank did not open. A stunner on India paper only and engraved and printed by Toppan, Carpenter & Co., New-York & Phila. Vermillion bank title and upper right counter balance nicely with the black printing. At the lower left is an Indian hunter at rest, his gun at his side. At the lower right is Major Waldrons Terrible Fight, which a few of Wisconsin banks used, but is considered a Massachusetts historical scene as elaborated by Roger Durand in his book. Hole punch cancelled as made, but a full Gem with stunning color. The Kelly Plate Note and ex Newman Part VI: 19426 at $6,412.50. Likely the only one you will encounter for sale and the equal or better of the $5 proof we sold in March 2019 for $3,840. This stupendous looking, color proof rarity is another excellent opportunity for a top notch combination of style and rarity.
