1902年内布拉斯加州红色印章100元 PMG VF 25
Auburn, Nebraska. $100 1902 Red Seal. Fr. 686. The First NB of Auburn. Charter #3343. PMG Very Fine 25.It seems like notes from old school collections just have a different quality and feel. This $100 red seal from Auburn looks like it could have been a signature lot in a 1970s Hickman Oakes sale. The paper is fresh, the colors are bright, and you couldnt ask for two better signatures. A quick glance at the census shows a serial number 106 $100 red seal from Auburn. The treasury serial number is the same as the piece we are auctioning. So it is a 99% surety that the note here is the same listed in the census. A large size note from Auburn is not a traditional rarity, but the draw here is the type and denomination. Four $100 red seals are documented on Nebraska. There is this example from Auburn, the #1 Sargent also in this sale, a Zombie from Omaha, and a VF from North Bend that has never appeared at auction. There really isnt an easy way to put an accurate value on such a rare and desirable type. A generic $100 red seal from somewhere like Chicago or Saint Louis easily brings $20,000 in the same condition. Certainly expect to pay into the estimate on this example to compensate for the state rarity.
