Hastings, Minnesota. $1 Original. Fr. 380. The Merchants NB. Charter #1538. PCGS Currency Very Good 10 Apparent. Small Edge and Internal Splits; Rust Stains. The Merchants National Bank of Hastings was fairly short lived, having opening its doors in the summer of 1865 for just eight short years when it finally dissolved in February of 1874. It issued a scant $125,500 in Original Series $1,$2, $5, $10 and $20s only. According to the National Bank Note Census, out of the four total notes known, this is the only Ace reported. Some minor edge tears and internal splits and some minor staining are mentioned by PCGS, but it is certainly an attractive note for the grade.
