1787 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 3-G, W-6090. Rarity-3-. Arrows in Left Talon. AU-55 (PCGS).156.7 grains. A glossy olive-brown example with subtle, faded autumn-orange undertones that are more evident on the reverse. The surface are satiny in texture and predominantly smooth, a trace of minor roughness in the lower right obverse field noted solely for accuracy. The left obverse border is devoid of denticulation, but otherwise the strike is well centered with both sides overall sharply defined. Ryder 3-G is perhaps the most plentiful die marriage of the 1787 Massachusetts cent in high grades, this lovely Choice AU ideally suited for type purposes. From the Greenway Collection.
