P-S623.A rare 1899 Provisional issue overprinted on a Perkins, Bacon & Co. engraved and printed May 1, 1873 series host note. Vignette with a pair of cherubs (representing Commerce and originally engraved by the Fairman group in the United States and exported to PBC) within the brown face. Brown back with multiple line surcharge. Noted as punch hole cancelled and previously mounted by PMG. Some soiling, but colorful and sharp red face banco seal in the central face.
