P-S401.The first of three rare notes that were collected with the "Departamento" notes (mostly emitted and printed from Medellín) in the Eldorado Collection, but are listed with the banks. By their obligation, it appears these notes were guaranteed by the national government during the war. All three banknotes were printed by Tipografía Central-Medellín and share a common style. Series A 1. Pink tint with red counters. Pastoral vignette, fuzzy details, at the top center. Very odd, diminutive vignettes of what appear to be Asian children standing on swings flank the title block. Gray back. Perforated BANCO del COMERCIO at left. Uncertified. Paper with strong body, but tears into the ample margins. Sharp color.
