PCGS Currency Superb Gem New 67 PPQ.This superbly preserved 1880 $20 Legal Tender Note is another that bears the courtesy autograph of United States Treasurer Daniel Nash Morgan who served in that role from June 1, 1893 until June 30, 1897. Four boardwalk margins are found on both the face and back of the note while dark inks and boldly colored overprints are seen. Just around 165 examples of this Tillman-Morgan signed $20 are known in all grades. The present example is among the finest known, and is a Superb Gem note with the Anderson pedigree, that will be affordable to a wide audience of bidders.<p><strong>$20 Legal Tender Notes, Series of 1880</strong><p><p>This series continues the motifs introduced on the "Rainbow" notes of 1869, with the popular portrait of Hamilton, profile view, to the left, and with helmeted Liberty to the right. It is estimated that 2,300,000 examples of the Fr. 141 were printed and issued. Two back styles were used on the Series of 1880 $20s with the imprint of the Columbian Bank Note Company found near bottom center with "PRINTED AT THE BUREAU OF ENGRAVING & PRINTING" below on Style 1, and the imprint of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing replacing the CBNC imprint on Style 2 (seen here).<p><p>
