1777 (ca. 1862) George Hampden Lovetts Headquarters Series -- No. 3, Chads Ford. Second Obverse. Copper. 28.6 mm. Musante GW-490, Baker-194A. MS-64 RB (NGC).,An intriguing example that combines a warmly patinated, olive-copper obverse with a near-fully lustrous, copper-rose reverse. Sharply impressed with a couple of small carbon spots in the upper reverse field precluding an even higher numeric grade. This type commemorates Washingtons headquarters at Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania during the Battle of Brandywine. Fought on September 11, 1777, this battle engaged more troops than any other during the American Revolution, and was also the longest single-day battle of the war.,,
