1852 Winfield Scott. DeWitt-WS 1852-14. Silver. 27 mm. MS-63 (NGC).,Medium to dark gray silver with a bit heavier toning in the recesses and accents of rose, blue and violet iridescence in the fields. Slight patina loss on the highest points of Scotts hair, which is not unusual considering the vulnerable nature of these points in highest relief. Dies by Robert Lovett, whose mark is just below Scotts truncation. Missing from Ford in this most precious metal, which is likely the rarest. Fords lone example, in white metal and graded one point higher than this one, realized just shy of $500 in September 2013. Very rare and on a nice thick flan making it even more impressive.,From the Brian Dobbins Collection of American Political Tokens. Earlier ex Charles McSorley Collection, Part II, Presidential Coin and Antique, July 1998, lot 71.,
