This more affordable early colonial-era farthing offers considerable boldness of detail throughout the design. Struck slightly off center on an ovoid planchet, denticulation is present only along the lower borders. Medium brown surfaces are overall rough in texture with a ragged border planchet flaw at 2 oclock relative to the obverse. The St. Patrick coinage of Ireland has long been collected as an adjunct to the later New Jersey copper series of 1786 to 1788.
