OH.,<strong>Obv:</strong> 13 peripheral stars surround a long-necked flying eagle, with its head tilted slightly upward, and the date 1855 below. <strong>Rev: </strong>similar to the later issued Flying Eagle cent reverse, but the wreath is smaller, with ONE CENT in the center and the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the periphery. <p>A tremendously handsome example of this majestic pattern which undoubtedly takes inspiration from the eponymous dollars by Christian Gobrecht. The surfaces are smooth, painted in a marbling of chocolate brown and honey-gold throughout.
