Washington Inaugural Button. 1789 Eagle and Sun. Copper. 33.8 mm. Cobb-4, DeWitt-GW 1789-4, Baker-1009. Very Fine, neatly pierced.,Incuse heraldic eagle with shield on breast, arrows and olive branch in talons. Inscription around reading MEMORABLE ERA MARCH THE FOURTH 1789. The reverse is blank with just some brass-colored solder where the original shank was once attached. Pleasing dark olive brown coloration with some very slight pitting. Slightly wavy, with a very slight (and easily fixable) bend. Quite attractive with all elements of the design clear and bold.<br /><p>From our (Coin Galleries) March 2008 sale, Lot 5028.
