Andover, Massachusetts. $5 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 598. The Andover NB. Charter #1129. Choice Very Fine 35.;A wonderful way to kick off Massachusetts as we offer a note that has never appeared in a major auction house prior to tonight. Andover is located in Essex county and had just one issuing bank. The bank opened in 1865 and lasted through the entire National Bank Note era when it ended in 1935. It issued just a touch over $1.8 million and just $5,275 remained outstanding. While PMG graded this note a Very Fine 35, its eye appeal makes it appear a full grade finer. Soft folds and no distractions are noted. Stamped signatures are clearly seen along with excellent colors on both sides. We expect this note to easily reach or even exceed our low estimate as many collectors will be trying to close out this very difficult charter.
