Leon, Iowa. $2 Original. Fr. 389. The First NB. Charter #1696. PMG Very Fine 30 Net. Restoration.;One of the most significant Iowa notes we have ever handled and currently just the second reported for the bank. Leon had just two issuing banks and is located in Decatur county. The First National Bank opened its doors in 1869 and liquidated just seven short years later in 1876. A total of $90,250 was issued and a mere $655 remained outstanding in 1910. The offered note still displays good overprinting and light but completely legible signatures. PMG comments "Restoration" which seem to be professionally executed around the lower left and right margins. An item that will certainly be carefully watched by advanced collectors.
