1928-S Mercury Dime. FS-501. Large S. MS-66+ FB (PCGS).；A profound condition rarity, this lovely Gem is brilliant with intense satin white luster. Fully struck and virtually pristine, as well, there is much to recommend this coin to the advanced Mercury dime enthusiast. Although not a major rarity among mintmarked issues from the 1920s, the 1928-S is seldom offered any finer than the basal MS-66 FB level. As well, the scarce Large S variety represented here is elusive in all Mint State grades. We suspect that this coin is among the finest known for the variety. The FS-501 attribution is not noted on the PCGS insert.
