1878 Twenty-Cent Piece. Proof-62 (NGC).;Moderately toned in silver-olive with blended reddish-gold and pale pink highlights. Both sides are razor sharp in strike with a uniformly reflective finish that is readily appreciable as the surfaces rotate under a light. The brief twenty-cent series contributed just four Proof issues to U.S. numismatics, two of which are not associated with an identically dated circulation strike mintage. The 1878, represented here, is one of the two Proof-only dates and was produced to the extent of just 600 coins. This is a pleasing survivor that is eagerly awaiting inclusion in a better date Proof type set or specialized collection of the twenty-cent pieces.
