1799 (1800) Funeral Urn Medal. Silver. 29 mm. Baker-166A, Musante GW-70, Fuld Dies 4-C2. Rarity-6. EF-45 (NGC).;An unpierced example of this classic Washington medal. Mottled steel gray obverse toning evenly blankets the reverse, the balance of the former side with lighter golden-tan tinting. Light high point wear is commensurate with the assigned grade, although we stress that the overall detail is bold and allows ready appreciation of the design. Both sides are uncommonly smooth for a Funeral Urn medal, most survivors of which show considerable evidence of handling. A premium quality piece that is equally worthy of inclusion in an advanced Colonial coin collection or specialized Washingtoniana cabinet.;From the Antony Bettencourt Collection. Earlier ex John J. Ford. Jr. Collection.
