1894 Morgan Silver Dollar. Proof-66 (PCGS).;Offered is a fully struck, wonderfully original Morgan dollar toned in apricot-gray patina that is lighter and more iridescent on the obverse. That side retains greater intensity to the Proof finish, although direct lighting also reveals a well mirrored field on the reverse. Vivid undertones of blue, pink and orange add to the eye appeal. Examples from this 972-piece Proof mintage are seldom offered with the overall pristine, premium Gem quality offered here. Given the rarity of the circulation strike 1894 Morgan dollar in the highest Mint State grades, demand for the present specimen is sure to come from many bidders.;From our (Stacks) sale of the John Work Garrett Collection for The Johns Hopkins University, March 1976, part of lot 319.
