1895-S Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-64+ (PCGS).;Extraordinary Choice quality for this elusive and challenging Morgan dollar issue. Boldly to sharply struck, both sides are highly lustrous with a bright satin finish. Toning is minimal and consists of mottled hazy silver and reddish-russet overtones that are boldest along the left obverse border. With a limited mintage of 400,000 coins, the 1895-S is a scarce, key date issue in all grades. This is particularly true in Mint State, and especially above the MS-63 level. The vast majority of Uncirculated survivors are heavily abraded and, in fact, the 1895-S vies with the 1893-CC as the most challenging Morgan dollar to locate with overall smooth surfaces. This is just such a coin, a premium quality near-Gem that would serve as a highlight in an advanced collection.
