Armored bust of King left holding short staff, legend around in two lines divided by beaded boarder; Reverse: Christ standing facing arms extended, Globus cruciger in right hand, in left field crowned individual arms of Sweden (Kalmar Union), Folkung lion and seal of the house of Vasa. In July 1610, more than a year before Gustav II Adolf was crowned king, Sweden entered into the Ingrian war (1610-1617) which was a failed attempt to place a Swedish ruler on the Russian throne. After the siege of Pskov which ended 27 February 1617 the Treaty of Stolbovo was signed which awarded the Province of Ingria to Sweden and stripped Russia of access to the Baltic Sea.
