Uncrowned king standing with arms extended holding globus cruciger in right and sword in left, table in right field with crossed key and scepter, denomination to the left, legend around in two lines divided by beaded boarder; Reverse: Crowned arms of Sweden (Kalmar Union) and Folkung lion alternating with the seal of the house of Vasa superimposed in the center, surrounded by 29 provincial coats of arms in two lines divided by beaded boarder. While his kingdom was constantly engaged in war his nephew Sigismund III Vasa continually tried to reclaim the crown from him. In 1606 at the Riksdag of the Estates, made up of Nobility, Clergy, Burghers and Peasants which at the time had the highest authority in Sweden next to the King, one of the major topics was the subject of the Polish ruler and the counter-reformation. The Riksdag sided with King Charles who was protestant. A few small marks in the fields from long ago now since toned over with attractive grey toning showing light hues of blue and gold.
