1652 Pine Tree Shilling. Large Planchet. Noe-5, Salmon 4-Di, W-720. Rarity-4. Without Pellets at Trunk, Reversed N. EF Details--Cleaned (PCGS).71.6 grains. A broad, ovoid planchet with a couple of gentle bends from the rocker press strike are instantly appreciable features here. The surfaces are overall light pearl gray with wisps of reddish-russet visiting here and there at the peripheries. There are two short scratches on the obverse, but they are faint and well concealed within the trees branches at upper left. Left obverse border into the letters ASA, reverse lettering free of the border, overall detail bold for the quality of strike offered. The appearance is muted to explain the PCGS qualifier, yet still with plenty of eye appeal to tempt less discerning collectors.PCGS# 915755. BASE PCGS# 45372.
